Frequently Asked Questions

How does Washington Express Movers create an estimate?
An estimate begins with a complimentary walkthrough of your office space. One of our move coordinators will visit your office to review the space, furniture, office items and IT equipment. We will discuss details of your project and from there develop a customized proposal and relocation plan for your business that can be emailed directly.
How accurate will the moving estimate be?
We work closely with every customer to ensure we fully understand his/her moving needs to provide an accurate quote. We offer Firm Fixed Pricing (FFP) to guarantee your final cost is within 10% of the bid unless there are significant changes to the scope of work.
Is moving labor the only moving expense I should expect?
Moving labor represents the majority of the moving expense but if needed, you should also account for packing supplies, crate rentals or additional valuation on your items. Unlike many moving companies, we do not require a 4-6 hour minimum or charge for weekend and after-hours fees.
How can I keep costs down during my move?
Each move is different but the best way to keep costs down during your move is to be prepared as possible for moving day, which will eliminate any unexpected or unnecessary time. If packing items yourself, make sure they are properly labeled and ready to go when the movers arrive. Anything that can help the movers move faster will cut down on cost.
Is valuation or "moving insurance" necessary?

While Washington Express Movers will take all necessary precautions during your move, unexpected damage can occur. It's important to make sure your items are protected. Standard movers' valuation is $.60 per pound for furniture and $5 per pound for IT equipment. Make sure any artwork or high-value items are covered separately.

How far in advance should I schedule my move?
The further out you can plan your move, the better. This will ensure you more options in choosing the date and time that is most convenient for your business. We do our best to accommodate last minute customers but if possible, recommend you contact us at least 2 weeks in advance.
What if our move date changes?
At Washington Express Movers, we pride ourselves in being flexible and always do our best to accommodate the unexpected. Contact your move coordinator as soon as you can if your move date(s) have changed.
Are your crews trained in what I need to move?
Yes. All of our movers are extensively vetted and trained to ensure they know how to properly pack, load and move everything from desks, filing cabinets, workstations and modular furniture. Our leading project managers are certified by the American Moving & Storage Association as Certified Office & Industrial Consultants to assure a first-class relocation experience.
How will you secure and set up our computer equipment?
Our movers use specialized computer bags, packing materials and equipment to safely move your computers and will disconnect and reconnect all employee computers.
Can you move modular furniture and workstations?
Yes. Our movers are trained and experienced with handling the disassembly, moving and reassembly of a variety of modular furniture and workstations.
Can you move our library?
Yes. Book collections can be tricky but our professional packers have a dedicated and efficient process to move your collection both safely and efficiently.
Are there any items you cannot move?
Washington Express Movers will not move any hazardous or combustible items such as propane tanks, firearms, paint and aerosols as the temperature in the truck could cause the items to ignite.
Can you help us dispose of our old furniture and electronics?
Yes. We can coordinate pick-up and delivery of disposal items or unwanted, yet still usable items and furniture for donation. Learn more about your options here
